FMB / Continental Training - Frequently Asked Questions
- Why is there a special FMB underfloor heating course?
The laying and installation of underfloor heating is not as hard as some would like to make it, especially when you have the support of a company such as Continental.
This course teaches the skills necessary to install the pipes and manifolds in all the common floor constructions, working under the supervision of a more highly trained person, or to detailed CAD plans provided with each Continental designed system.
Continental and FMB have worked together to develop this specific course, and Continental have ensured that it has gained accreditation.
- Can you train my staff?
Your staff can attend one of our training courses as a group, or we can set-up and tailor an individual course for your company to give your team the specific skills for your business.
Please call 0845 108 7001 to speak to one of our BPEC accredited trainers and discuss your requirements. Continental has the only BPEC accredited mobile training rig in the country and we can train your staff either on your premises or at a nearby location.
- How much time is this going to take out of my business?
The course is just one day. Although you won't be able to work whilst attending the course, the investment will be paid back many times when you fit underfloor heating more quickly and efficiently in the future.
- What does BPEC accreditation of the trainer and the training centre mean to me?
All of our trainers are fully BPEC accredited. This means that they themselves have undergone training courses and tests to ensure they are fully qualified to teach you about installing underfloor heating and enable you to gain your own BPEC accreditation.
BPEC accreditation is important because BPEC works closely with UHMA, the trade association, to develop the correct training for the industry.
Continental have the only BPEC accredited mobile training rig in the UK, enabling us to run courses anywhere in the country.
- Where are the courses held?
Continental Underfloor Heating training courses are held across the country, so there will be a course within easy travelling distance for you. We use training centres with easy access and parking.

- What format are the classes?
The Continental Underfloor Heating BPEC accredited trainer at each course will give you both hands-on installation skills and the technical knowledge. This ensures trouble-free fitting of underfloor heating systems for all floor constructions and heat sources.
Throughout the course the trainer will answer all your questions on practical and technical aspects of underfloor heating systems.
At the end of the course there will be a short test.
- Are there any books I should buy or need to read before I attend?
No prior reading is needed as our courses are comprehensive and we provide a full set of training notes for each course member for future referral. This will make each of your installations quick and straightforward.
However should you wish to take the subject further, getting a copy of the BSRIA underfloor heating guide would not be a bad thing.
- Will I be able to leave my mobile phone on during the course?
We fully appreciate that your business still needs to run. We do not ban mobile phones, but ask you to leave them on 'silent' or 'vibrate' and take them out of the room to answer them. That way you can still keep in touch with your customers without disturbing the other members on the course.
- What do other people who have attended have to say about the courses?
